  WHY JESUS DIE

WHY JESUS CHRIST HAD TO SUFFER AND DIE (REMOVAL OF SIN)

I won’t go into too much detail, because much has been said already. But consider this example of how God acted to demonstrate His justice—for He is just. Everything happening, my brother/sister, has justice behind it. Even when someone ends up in hell, there is a reason. God has established justice. The Bible has all the answers. Let’s look at the REDEMPTION OF MANKIND.

Deuteronomy 32:4 (KJV)
“He is the Rock, his work is perfect:
for all his ways are judgment:
a God of truth and without iniquity,
just and right is he.”

Romans 3:25 (KJV)
“Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins
that are past,
through the forbearance of God;”

Psalm 107:20 (KJV)
“He sent his word, and healed them,
and delivered them from their destructions.”

To keep it simple, think of how God made a way for us to receive forgiveness of sins by upholding His justice.

Imagine a real-world situation: someone kills another person—suppose the victim is your relative. The killer is taken to court, found guilty, and sentenced to death or prison. But shortly after, you hear that he’s been pardoned by the president and released. Clearly, justice hasn’t been served. True justice demands that the guilty face the consequences.

Biblically, when a person sins, they are separated from God (spiritually and even physically dead). God wanted to open a way for forgiveness—for sin to be removed. Now let’s see how God provided a free solution that still fulfilled justice—through faith in Jesus Christ for the sins of His people.

Remember, Jesus Christ is the only one who lived without sin. All of us—even prophets and apostles—are born into a fallen condition. Each time we sin, we bring harm to others and ultimately to God. So to eliminate this complaint, God’s Word (Jesus Christ) became flesh and dwelt among us. This sinless man suffered at the hands of sinners. God made Him a mediator so that anyone who looks to Jesus (His suffering, death, and resurrection) has their debt removed. When God (the Judge) sees that the innocent One has suffered and died, He can forgive the guilty—this is the free solution. Without that revelation, forgiveness is not possible, because justice hasn’t been served. But through Jesus, we have a way to approach God.

Hebrews 2:17 (KJV)
“Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren,
that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God,
to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.”

Romans 3:25–26 (KJV)
“Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past,
through the forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness:
that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”

From the foundation of the world, sins were being deferred—but all were laid upon Christ. In the Old Testament, animal sacrifices were made as shadows. Their sins were covered—not removed. The reality was a prophetic picture of the Messiah coming to save us.

Isaiah 53:4–5 (KJV)
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Acts 3:18 (KJV)
“But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets,
that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.”

Much in the Old Covenant was practiced without full understanding.

1 Peter 1:10–11 (KJV)
“Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently,
who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.”

Another example:
Take Abel, who was murdered by Cain, and his blood cried out to God.

Genesis 4:10 (KJV)
“And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.”

Even though Abel was in the grave, his blood cried out.

Blood in the Bible represents life. Through blood, people can know much about you.

Leviticus 17:11 (KJV)
For the life of the flesh is in the blood:
and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls:
for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

That’s why Scripture says Jesus shed His blood—it means He gave His life.

Now, as sinners, we may complain and leave behind a debt to God. But Scripture reveals that Jesus, the only sinless one, became the free solution.

Matthew 6:12 (KJV)
“And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.”

John 14:6 (KJV)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

THERE ARE MANY VERSES—ALMOST THE ENTIRE BIBLE SPEAKS OF THIS.
GOD IS FULL OF MERCY—meaning He gives us many chances when we fail. There is hope when we look to Jesus Christ and the perfect work that was done. We weren’t there—even the people of old weren’t—but it is by faith.

Luke 24:44–46 (KJV)
“And he said unto them,
These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you,
that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses,
and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer,
and to rise from the dead the third day:”
